About
Proprietors Iririn Srirada
Having run a weekend food stand on the grounds of the Wat Thai temple in North Hollywood since 2017 gave owner Iririn Srirada her first foray into running a food business, but her Thai Town Marketplace business, So Zaap (“Zaap” meaning “very delicious” in eastern Thai dialect slang) is an opportunity to branch out into more than just juice and ice cream. Born in Bangkok with family roots in Laos and Eastern Thailand, she came to the U.S. in 2004 as a freelance makeup artist and also worked as a server in a Thai restaurant in L.A.’s Koreatown for a decade, which inspired her to go into the restaurant business. Self-taught in her cooking skills, Iririn hopes that customers will appreciate So Zaap’s unique menu and noodle dishes, which use vermicelli and macaroni salad. “I don’t have a lot of money, the Thai Town Marketplace can help me a lot,” she says. “The marketplace helps low-income people make starting up their own business possible.”
