Wirakan Morakotsanoi
Wirakan Morakotsanoi’s Jasmine (named in honor of the popular variety of rice grown in Thailand) serves traditional noodle and rice dishes, soups and curries, specializing in the spicy cuisine of the country’s northeastern region. Wirakan, who hails from the Khorat province and now lives here in Thai Town, has a passion for cooking Thai food, which she learned from her parents and grandmother. “I love to just cook for myself, I never eat outside,” Wirakan says, and that love for cooking led her to sell her food for 10 years at a similar public market in Wangnumkaew, Thailand. “The Thai Town Marketplace is a chance for me to open my own business,” she says. “It’s not easy to go on my own.”
