Proprietor Sottipat Sutin
Originally from the Surathani province in Southern Thailand, Wings Hunter owner Sottipat Sutin desired to open a restaurant specializing in Southern Thai-style fried chicken. “In my hometown, the fried chicken is very popular,” He says. “I saw a lot of travelers around the world to come to my city, and they liked it.” He noted that the appeal of chicken is relatively universal as there are no religious or cultural restrictions on eating chicken by Christians, Buddhists or Muslims alike. Having learned cooking from family members who cooked food to give to the monks in the local Buddhist temple, Sottipat formerly ran a pho restaurant in the San Fernando Valley for the past few years and discovered the best-selling dish was their chicken wings. He originally wanted to open a street food restaurant in the Culver City area but found it difficult to find an affordable place to get established. “I’m lucky that I found a good foundation here in the Thai Town Marketplace, and Thai CDC to help me opening my business,” he says. “The Thai Town Marketplace is another symbol of Thai culture in L.A., a one-stop location where you can have different kinds of of food…it’s going to be another destination that tourists can get an unforgettable experience from Los Angeles too.”
